Chiropody & Podiatry

Chiropody

What is Podiatry about?

A PODIATRIST has studied the mechanisms that lead to musculoskeletal pain of the lower extremities, including the lower back. When you book a podiatry appointment your posture and gait will be examined with gait analysis software. You will need to wear a pair of shorts or leggings and a t-shirt for the assessment. Two dots will be applied to your lower back to assess your hip function.

You will have a thorough muscle and joint assessment. This examination includes your foot and ankle, your knees as well as your hips and lower back.

So what is Chiropody?

A CHIROPODY appointment often relates to a visual or painful problem of the foot. The types of problems that are dealt with during a chiropody appointment are corns or calluses. These are the result of overloading of pressure of the skin or can be the results of poor foot wear or dry skin. During a chiropody appointment these will be painlessly removed.
